A structural component of the Urban Active Mask product is its Narvalo IoT app.
Starting with the potential offered by the device, it was necessary to extract value from the data collected by the mask, enriching it thanks to the application potential offered by an app.

1. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT BRIEF

Designing a system that was able to be integrated with Urban Active Mask so that users could use the data collected by the device.

Product Development Research

Conducted through qualitative and quantitative surveys to understand user needs and benchmarking to explore application purposes of apps related to healthcare and sports devices.

Concept Development

Embedding different technologies in a digital prototype based on different user journeys and blueprints, technical analysis for data interfacing and testing to assess usability.

IOT Software Development

Creation of firmware for the correct data transfer between device and app, followed by the development, debugging and release of the app on digital stores.

4. PROJECT OUTPUTS

From the decomposition of the initial problems, a number of design solutions were proposed that were able to convert technical limitations into a structural renewal of the starting product.

Automatic and manual sessions

If the app and Urban Active Mask cannot be used simultaneously, the app also allows asynchronous recording of sessions so as not to lose control over usage data.

Multi-device integration

Connection between live data provided by the towers surveyed on the ground, breathing frequency measured by the Active Shield and the user’s route mapped via mobile phone GPS.

Mobile functionality

Thanks to the mapping of the user’s route, it is possible to obtain as accurate an estimate as possible of the level of air pollution filtered by Urban Active Mask during use.
